Rand T. Akasheh obtained her Ph.D. degree in Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Rehabilitation from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), with a concentration in Integrative Pathophysiology and Nutrition in 2017. Rand has worked as a co-instructor of the course “Genetic, Molecular, and Cellular Mechanisms of Chronic Diseases” at UIC. She has focused her research on the mechanisms of obesity- and glucocorticoid-induced insulin resistance, inflammation, and pancreatitis. Rand has published her research in PlosOne journal and Current Opinion in Pharmacology journal. Rand currently works as a postdoctoral fellow at UIC to study acute lung injury and lung cancer.
